Celebrate Good Times...Wahoo!!!

Alright guys & gals! I am celebrating and wanted to share a couple of things with you as an encouragement that you too can do this!!

#1 - Walgreens Deals

On Saturday, I purchased the above products from Walgreens for a total of $5.29!! Wanna know how...I stacked coupons and used Walgreens ad coupons. The Tide detergent was $5.99 normally so I paid less than that for everything. I also had 3 Register Rewards from past sales. My purchase would have cost me $27.90!! It truly does pay to clip those coupons & get your grocery list in order. My #1 secret...sign up for those newsletter of the gals I've mentioned in other posts and start clipping and organizing those coupons. They know what they are doing! I've been at this for a month and if I can do it, so can you. FYI..those seed packets were 3/$1 and were added as fillers so I could use my Register Rewards. They are cheap and we can use them in the yard.

#2 - Freebies in the mail today!!

I was working at my daughters school today and came home with a headache so finding this Taster's Choice coffee in the mail was very refreshing. You gotta love coffee and a good nights rest!! Although, my hubby may not need the Breathe Right strips anymore (click on the link and get your free sample!). He's lost nearly 30 pounds since January 1! Way to go Babe!!! I'm so proud of him.

#3 - Got an email from Faithful Provisions & guess what...I won!!! Yippee!!

I entered a drawing for a "Blue Avocado Starter Kit" at Faithful Provisions for Mother's Day and won! I received an email and my package will be in the mail soon. I'll post some pics when I receive it. Yahoo!! I'll be sporting some cool bags at the grocery store. Too cute!! Best of all...FREE!!!! Thanks Faithful Provisions!

4 - Not so good news...last week my youngest came home with what appeared to be the flu and was home for 4 days and today my other girlies came home sick with similar symptoms. To make matters worse...and I'm in serious denial and hoping I'm just coming down from the coffee high from earlier...I think I'm getting sick too! So, off to bed as soon as this is posted.

Make sure you are getting your rest and taking your vitamins! Best of luck on your couponing adventures! Isn't it fun!!

May 2009 Pictures

My, how time flies! I’m finally getting some pictures posted from last month. Friday was the last day of school for my girls and it has been a whirlwind of activities these last several weeks. I’m looking forward to some good ole fun and relaxation with my family this summer! We’ve got a camping trip coming up that we can’t wait for. It’s always good quality family time since you do not have the hustle and bustle of life.

Yesterday we put our Korean exchange student of 9+ months on a bus headed to Canada for a few days. She’ll return for one night in a hotel and then will be headed home to her family in Seoul. I’m sure her family is very excited to see their daughter. My how she has grown since she came to live with us! Her parents will be amazed at the young lady she’s turning into when they see her. Her English improved so much while she was here and she was an all A’s & B’s student at the last semester. Quite impressive! Her many hours of homework she put in paid off. We will miss Rosie’s smile around the home.

On to the pictures…Last month we took a trip to Seattle so Rosie could see some of the famous sites. First on the list was Pike’s Place Market. It was a gorgeous day for walking around Seattle! We walked the Market, ate some yummy food and showed Rosie the famous Fish Market. Then, we headed to the Seattle Center to walk around and show her the Space Needle. She really enjoyed that! To end the day, we hit the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner…Rosie’s favorite and we can’t complain!

We spent Mother’s Day at our home but my mom was home sick. We missed her! Last year I was sick in bed with a high fever for Mother’s Day. There must be something about this holiday! We just never have enough time when we get together as families! I guess we just need to get together more often. I picked up an apron for Kimberly for Mother’s Day and low and behold, I got an apron for Mother’s Day from my family as well!

The girls had their Spring Program’s. I posted a video of Katelynn’s performance last month. Madison had a speaking role in her program. She was totally in her element up there on stage performing! Imagine that!! Stay tuned soon for a video clip of her performance at her Talent Share from this month!

My sister and her family came and visited and the time with them went by so quickly! We jammed in as many events as possible. All my pictures are from our last day and evening together. It’s always the hardest day as we say our good-byes. We enjoyed our time together though!

Let me close with a prayer request for a family that goes to our church and school. The mother was just a few days out from delivering their baby boy, Jesse. It was evident the cause of his death, upon delivery, as the cord was knotted and wrapped tightly around him. Please pray for the Collins family, for peace and comfort as they handle their loss. Hug and love on those precious to you!

Farm Chicks and Country Living

Mother's Day is just around the corner...so I've dropped several hints and even offered to pick up an item that's on my wish list for my hubbie. My husband's a busy guy and has a tendacy to wait until the last minute to go out and get the perfect gift. I figured, I'm at the store and I see what I've been wanting. I'll just send him a text message and see if he'd like for me to pick up that certain item that he and the girls can wrap up for me...as a surprise for me. I'm trying to be a helper! Anywho! I didn't pick it up. It's still at the store waiting to come home to me.

Curious to know what it is? "The Farm Chicks in the Kitchen: Live Well, Laugh Often, Cook Much" Book is first on my list for Mother's Day this year! Check out their website here (http://thefarmchicks.typepad.com/farmchicks/our-cookbook/). They even have some recipes you can try. The book is available at Costco for $17.49 and it even includes a free subscription to Country Living(http://www.countryliving.com/). What a deal! One of the ladies is even from our beautiful state.

There are multiple recipes included in the book as well as some other creative ideas to country-fy our homes with craft projects and decorations. I think I need an adorable new apron to go with it too! Not really but I did a quick search for vintage aprons and aren't these cute! Check out http://www.jessiesteele.com/catalog.php and http://www.couturedreams.com/ if you're in need of a cute new apron. I've got a few that I wear when I'm cooking in the kitchen but not as cute as these. I need to get some new ones for my girls too. We used to have apron's for them when they were much younger but they've outgrown them.

Lately I've been trying more recipes to bless my family at dinner, etc. It's important to make our house a home. My husband is always jabbing me when I come home with a new candle. I always ask him if he likes it and his comment is always "Smells like home". In the beginning I was usually bothered by that. I wanted to hear something like, "Wow! That's really nice." or "I really like that one". But now, I've come to appreciate that comment. I want our home to be filled with comfort, joy, laughter, love and have a sweet aroma.

When I was in Kansas, my blog music wasn't playing in the background. My oldest, Katelynn, made a comment about how something was different to Jack and then she realized that she missed hearing my blog music. I want my children to look back when they are adults and have fond memories of home. The smell of a candle, fresh baked cookies or muffins, etc. etc.

Ladies, take some time to create memories and bless your family today. They'll appreciate it (even if they don't mention it) and you'll feel good about it in the process. Those mundane job's that we do each day, they are a blessing to our families! The toilet doesn't clean itself and the laundry doesn't fold itself.

We all need to be a Proverbs 31 Woman. Proverbs 31:15 ~ "She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls." Proverbs 31:17 ~
"She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks." Personnally, I don't get up when it's dark but rather I stay up when it's dark to do some of my tasks. That just works best for me. So, turn on some music, grab your apron, dust rag or your mop and go bless your family!!

P.S. I'm curious to know what's on your list for Mother's Day? Leave me a comment 'cause I'd love to hear what you've got your eye on!
