Crème Brulee French Toast

My sister has put in a request for a Crème Brulee French Toast recipe that I use for special occasions. It is a nice recipe that you can make the night before when you’ve got company for a delicious and easy breakfast! Since you make it the night before, it allows for a relaxing morning of visiting while the sweet aroma fills your kitchen.

Crème Brulee French Toast

1 stick butter

1 c. brown sugar

2 Tbsp. corn syrup

1 loaf French bread

5 large eggs

1 ½ c. half and half

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. grand marnier or orange juice

¼ tsp. salt

cinnamon and sugar

In a medium saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Pour into a 9x13 pan. Cut bread into 1” thick slices (trim off crusts) and fit into pan on top of butter and sugar mixture. In a bowl, whisk eggs and remaining ingredients. Pour evenly over bread. Chill in fridge overnight. Bring to room temperature and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 35-50 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar before baking. No syrup necessary!

Set your table with some fresh flowers and serve with fresh fruit like sweet strawberries or cantelope and a warm cup of coffee and orange juice. Enjoy!

It is an easy breakfast to make with company! I find that it always takes a little longer to bake than what the recipe says though. Give it a try Missy and let me know what you think.
