Crème Brulee French Toast

My sister has put in a request for a Crème Brulee French Toast recipe that I use for special occasions. It is a nice recipe that you can make the night before when you’ve got company for a delicious and easy breakfast! Since you make it the night before, it allows for a relaxing morning of visiting while the sweet aroma fills your kitchen.

Crème Brulee French Toast

1 stick butter

1 c. brown sugar

2 Tbsp. corn syrup

1 loaf French bread

5 large eggs

1 ½ c. half and half

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. grand marnier or orange juice

¼ tsp. salt

cinnamon and sugar

In a medium saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Pour into a 9x13 pan. Cut bread into 1” thick slices (trim off crusts) and fit into pan on top of butter and sugar mixture. In a bowl, whisk eggs and remaining ingredients. Pour evenly over bread. Chill in fridge overnight. Bring to room temperature and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 35-50 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar before baking. No syrup necessary!

Set your table with some fresh flowers and serve with fresh fruit like sweet strawberries or cantelope and a warm cup of coffee and orange juice. Enjoy!

June Family Pics and STRAWBERRY MOCK-A-RITA Recipe

I have been trying to get these pictures posted for over a week now but we have been busy having fun with lots of activities! This last week the girls were in Vacation Bible School at our church and had a lot of fun! I was able to help out on Thursday and Friday as well with the 4th grade class. Nealy 300 kids were there!

We had a fun day in the sun with friends planned but had to cancel since my youngest was up at least half of the night getting sick! Poor baby!! May I just say how incredibly thankful I am to have a washer & dryer...I cannot even imagine having to take a messy comforter, blankets, pajamas & towels down to the riverbank to wash them out. While I'm at it, let me give a BIG "shout-out" to my wonderful hubbie that has to get up very early but got up to help with the first round of whoozies. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We make a great team.

So...I guess since we're home for the day I can finally get our pictures posted. June was a busy month for us...last weeks of school, 6th grade graduation for Rosie, Rosie's departure to return home to her family in Korea, Madison's 9th Birthday, Father's Day... Lots of fun times and great memories created! Grab something cold to drink as there are a lot of photos :~) or better yet, to beat this heat, try this great recipe that we enjoy with our Chicken Taco Soup or other Mexican theme meals.

One little side note about the photo's...some are not as clear as I'd like but unbeknownst to me, one of my little monkeys changed a setting on my camera. You should be able to click on the recipe below & print onto cardstock for your recipe file but for some reason that doesn't seem to be working. Enjoy and stay tuned for the recipe request from my sister of Creme Brulee French Toast!

For some reason, our photo's are not scrolling. Sorry for the inconvenience...click on view all images if you would like to see them. I'm hoping to get it fixed again!

Stars and Stripes Forever by The Muppets and HEAVENLY FRUIT DIP

This video is especially for my husband and my dad as they love the muppets! Make sure you pause the blog music on the right before previewing :~)

Heavenly Fruit Dip is perfect for the fourth and other family/friend get together's. We usually serve it with sliced apples and strawberries. It goes together very quickly and tastes delicious!

1 (3 3/4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

2 1/2 cups half and half

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon rum extract

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine ingredients in small mixing bowl; beat with rotary beater or lowest speed of mixer for about 2 minutes. Cover and chill several hours or overnight. Makes about 3 cups. So easy and it's always a hit!

We want to wish each and every one of you a safe and fun 4th with your family and friends!! Happy 4th of July!
