October 2008 Family Photo's

Ok. So I'm a little behind in posting pictures. Keep thinking I'll get current but you know... Maybe next month that will happen. October has a lot of pictures so grab a cup of something hot to sip while you preview. November on the other hand will be very sparse since Jack was in the hospital then. I'm missing a chunk of our lives in photo's for that month... Enjoy!

Ding...Fries are Done!

In honor of my sister! Thanks for calling me the other day with it. I needed it that day. Enjoy! Now, maybe every time you hear this classic Christmas song you'll have this visual picture like I do ;~)

For those of you who want the lyrics...

I work at Burger King making flame broiled whoopers, I wear paper hats.
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
I gotta run.
I gotta run.
I gotta run.
I gotta run.
Don't bob for fries in hot fat.
It really hurts bad and so do skin grafts.
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Where is the bell?
Wait for the bell.
Can't hear the bell.
Where is the bell?
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
I work at Burger King making flame broiled whoopers. I wear paper hats.
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.
Ding! Fries are done.

September 2008 Family Photo's

So life is starting to get back to normal. As I'm sure you all have heard by now, Jack was in the hospital for 11 days with a blood clot that went the entire length of his left leg. He went in on a Monday for an outpatient orthoscopic knee surgery and three days later was admitted to the hospital. He had two rather scary and risky procedures done and was placed in the Special Care Unit. I am so thankful that he got good care and is home with his family now!! I am also so proud of him for following up with his doctor and getting an ultrasound. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't. Life is fragile and you never know if today is your last day.

In September we had an exchange student, Rosie, come to live with us for the school year. She is a very nice girl and get's along great with the girls. She shares a room with Katelynn, is 12 years old and LOVES school! October pictures to come soon. I really want to get current with the pictures so Rosie's family can be enjoying photo's of their daughter too.

Wanted to give a shout-out to all our friends and family who helped us out during Jack's hospitalization by praying for us and providing meals. You guys helped me keep my sanity so THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

August 2008 Family Pictures

Ok! I really do not know how you guys have time to keep up on your blogs, emails, face books, housework, husband, kids' activities, etc., etc., etc.! I have not had any spare time to update my blog nor read any of your blogs. There is just not enough time in my day!! Life is crazy but going well. As some of you know, we now have a Korean Foreign Exchange girl staying with us. You'll have to stay tuned for photo's of her. I will try to get September's photo's up soon so you can see a picture of her. Rosie is very sweet and is fitting right in with our family. More about that later.

Most of these photo's are of us camping at Silver Falls Oregon. It was very hot and beautiful there. We did LOTS of walking to see LOTS of waterfalls. They were very pretty and we really enjoyed this campground. There were some really great little stores in town too. My favorite was called The Red Bench with antiques and country decor. Gotta get these posted and get to bed! Talk with you later!

July 2008 - Dallas Texas Trip

Wanted to post our pictures from Dallas. This was such a great trip! Started with the Nevus Convention. It is great to be able to meet every two years for Katelynn with other friends. Madison fits right in and has friends there too. We always learn so much from all the doctors!

We were able to see some of Jack's family while we were here too. Spent an afternoon with his parents, niece and her husband and also spent a day at Six Flags with Jack's niece and her husband. It was very hot that day but the good thing was...some high winds came in and they closed most of the rides for about an hour. A lot of people went home since the rides were closed. When they re-opened the rides, there was hardly any wait for us!

We got to go to the American Girl & Bistro. The girls had a great time here and the dessert was really good too!

We walked around downtown Dallas and saw where JFK was shot. Madison is still talking about that. Ate at a crabshack. Great food! We had a great time and look forward to it in 2 years again!

June 27 - July 5, 2008 Visit with my Sister & Co photos

The end of June through July 5, my Sister Lindsay, her hubbie Paul & little Capri came for a visit. We had a great time! The weather was beautiful. We were able to go to the park, hang out at mom and dad's, have strawberry margarita's in the hot summer sun, celebrate the 4th and reconnect. The time always goes so quickly but we cherish our time together. I'm sure that Kim, mom and Lindsay have more photo's that could be added. Miss ya Lindsay!

June 2008 - San Juan Island, Lonesome Cove Cabin

Just getting these posted! Got so many other pictures from this summer to post as well. We had so much fun in the San Juan's. We also went to Roche Harbor but I don't have pictures of those. I'll have to get those from mom.

Jack and I got to go on a date for dinner. How romantic! Thanks mom and dad! We had so much fun as a family and it was sooo relaxing there. More summer pictures to follow!

New Kitchen Floor!

Had to share our new floor that we had put in on Thursday. We still need to get it all put back together and have some more work done on the back door but we love it! It looks like a totally different room now. Now all I have to do is decide on a paint color! Got any suggestions? Wanted to do a yellow like we had in the old kitchen but now I'm leaning toward a golden orange color. Kind of like a Chai Tea, Nutmeg, or fall orange colors... Take care!

Who am I?

The girls had their Spring Program this week and did a great job. One of my favorites was a song called "I can't hear you". The first time I heard them sing it at the house, I got on their case and told them they couldn't sing that song. Then, they told me it was for the program. Some of the lines are, "I can't hear you, I can't hear you, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah". It was very cute! It was about Goliath and David.

Our favorite of the night though was when the 4th graders did something similar to the video below. Only one of the 4th graders wore gloves and they were a dove (symbolizing Jesus) flying across the stage and picking up the man as he started to fall, etc. The rest of the kids had white paper that was 4x6 inches since they have smaller hands than adults. It was so awesome! I am hoping that Mrs. Solomon will put it online for others to enjoy. If she does, I'll be sure to post it. Enjoy and you may want a kleenex before you watch!

Kid Funnies this Week

Kids say the silliest things sometimes. They just come out of left field with questions and such. These are the things that made us laugh and ponder this week.

1) DUST - Earlier in the week we started watching Night at the Museum so I'm sure that's where this question got it's start. In the movie, if anything is left outside the Museum at sunrise they will turn to dust. My Great Grandma has been dying and the girls knew that as well. So, Madison is pondering life and death I guess. Out of the blue, she asks about my parents old dog Skippy. There is a kennel and a dog house in the back yard still and the girls notice something in there and were asking about it and then... Madison said, "Is Skippy dust now?"

2) LIPS - I had not been feeling very well this week and had some kind of a sinus cold. Been watching the girls and asking how they are feeling to see if they were coming down with it. Picked up the girls from school and ask about their days. Madison is pretty quiet and not like her loud, perky self. So, I ask her if she's tired to which she replies, "No but my lips are." Lips? "Did you say lips Madison?" "Yes. My lips are tired. I did a lot of talking today." ;~) Surprise, surprise. Madison did too much talking!

3) FLASHER - We started back up with swimming lessons this month on Tuesday and Thursday's. The girls are having so much fun doing it. Makes for rushed nights though. We hurry home from school and the girls do there homework. At 4:45 we head out the door for lessons and then home around 6ish. Both girls have to shower still, have dinner and be to bed by 8. So, usually on Thursday's we get Papa Murphy's pizza. We are on our way there and the girls want to go it to get the pizza. Well, when we leave swim class, we just have the girls put on their adorable princess bathrobes that their Auntie Kimberly got them over their swimsuits. So anyways, we told them they were in their robes and that they couldn't go in. To which they replied, "We'll just open our robes so people know we have our swimsuits on." I am trying to hold back laughing and then could just not contain myself any longer. All I could picture was a flasher in a trenchcoat. Only, my girls would probably be prancing around casually with their robes open so everyone could see their suits. It was just too funny!
Have a good weekend!

Jurassic Park Adventure

You remember the movie!? Well, we got to have our own little Jurassic Park adventure when Katelynn and I went on a field trip earlier this week.

Monday morning was the awards ceremony at school and Katelynn received a certificate for having all A's again. She's such a good student and loves school! Following the ceremony we had to beat feet out of school for her field trip. Course, as we are getting ready for school that morning, it is literally POURING outside and I'm doing a little kicking and screaming on the inside about that! No time for Starbucks either! Bummer!! We were supposed to be at Northwest Trek by 10:00 so we had enough time to catch the 10:30 tram. Needless to say, the class was late since the award ceremony ran long. They held the tram for us though. That was nice of them.

I think we were the first tram out. There was a park truck a way's in front of us and they were feeding the animals so the animals were all out right next to the tram. We got to see Big Horn Sheep, Bison with their new babies, Moose, Trumpeter Swans, Mountain Goats, and Blacktail Deer. It was so cool! But then...

About halfway through our ride, we heard a loud bang. The tram driver thought someone must have shut their window too hard. I thought maybe we just hit one of the Roosevelt Elk that we just past. They took off running from the noise. Another mom thought maybe the tram just back fired. Hmmm...

Shortly thereafter, the tram starts smoking and then it abruptly stops. The driver asks us to remain in the tram. More smoke starts coming from the engine and is now entering the front tram car which Katelynn and I are sitting in. The tram is now starting to smell because of all the smoke billowing inside. It's starting to get hazy inside now. A mother at the front of the tram and the children in her care are ready to get off the tram! We are thinking the same thing. We need to get out of here! The driver cannot get the doors open but is telling us to get off the tram now. One of the girls in my care says to me with wide eyes and looking a little pale, "What about the animals?!?" I can tell she is worried that we could be in danger from them. I assure her that they are more afraid of us than we are of them as I am wondering to myself, "Are there any Lynx or Bears out here?" Course, I missed that little part at the start of the tour stating that there are no meat eaters on the tram tour since it was so loud with all the chatter and excitement. Duh!? You really think they are gonna send a bunch of 3rd graders out into the forest with meat eaters!?! We'll chalk that up to a blond moment!

We finally are able to get the door open and then calmly but quickly make our way to the second and third cars of the tram while we await for another tram to transport us back. Eventually (about 20-30 minutes later!) they send out another tram to get us back to the park. Needless to say, we did not have as much time to spend seeing all of the other animals but we got to have a great adventure!

The difference between boys & girls

Ok. So most of you have heard but I had to post this. Recently Katelynn and Madison spent the night at there cousins. This is how the evening proceeds after we pick them up...Keep in mind this is coming from our 7 1/2 year old sweet, innocent and naive baby girl.

So we're sitting as a family at a gourmet dinner at Wendy's after picking up the kids. We are catching up with them and asking how there time is over our delicious meal. They got to spend time with their cousins and with another boy of about 5.

Upon picking up the girls, Savanah let's Nana in on a little secret that she thinks "said boy" has a crush on Madison. At dinner we get the scoop on all the things they did with their cousins, etc. etc.

Then, out of Madison's little mouth comes matter of factly, "I know the difference between boys and girls." Complete silence from the parents and Nana as our minds are whirling on the inside and we're all thinking, "Did she just say what I think she did? What does that mean? Where did this come from? She's only 7 1/2. Oh my gosh!!!"

Madison continues, "Yeah, boys have a black spot on their stomachs that girls do not have."

Still complete silence from the parents. We're still completely whirling on the inside and panicking. Nana on the other hand is thinking back to Anah's little secret she filled her in on and wondering, "What happened? Could Madison have seen something she shouldn't have?"

Then Madison explains a little more. Now we find out she's referring to the puppies! Oh, the puppies! The new puppies at Papa and Grandma Donna's. Great!! This is going so much better now. Yeah! Boy puppies have a brown spot on their tummies. For someone who does not love dogs, I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to know she was talking about puppies!

So, our usually sweet, innocent 7 1/2 year old is still naive to the difference between boys and girls! We're just not ready for her to know all of this yet. She doesn't have a brother. She's got a small clue I'm sure but that's all she needs for now. We can cross this bridge a little later in life! I'm having a tough enough time starting to fill Katelynn in on the facts of life. Whew!

Collections - one down and several to go

This is one of the reasons my sister wanted me to start blogging. She wants me to start sharing my silly kid stories. Here's one of them...Madison decided she wants to start collecting staples. Yes, I really meant to say staples. Madison told me she wants staples that I don't need anymore that I've used. She wants them for a project. Hmm... What kind of project Madison? Just a project. She also says quickly in the same sentence that she'd also take any paper clips or other things that I don't need. She had one staple so far. As of yesterday, it fell to the ground and I told her we should start collecting something else. I'm such a killjoy. I don't want to find that used staple or any future used staples in the foot of one of my family members though. There's plenty of other things she can collect, right!? Besides, I think we need to find another container for her to store them in. Her staple collection of one was being stored in a collection cup from the doctor's office. You know, the one's you pee in or put a sample in. She got this from her doctor when she had her tonsil and adenoids out. Her doctor put her two teeth he pulled into it with a five dollar bill. Time for a new collection container and a new collection. Any ideas? No booger or fingernail clippings collections either! We've already done rocks so that's out and we certainly do not need anymore stuffed animals!

To blog or not to blog? That is my question.

So my sister is giving me a hard time about blogging (in a good way). Little does she know that I started this blog this week. I'm just dragging my feet on deciding whether or not to officially take the plunge into blog world. I decided to check out the blog world and see if it was user friendly to set up, etc. However, I barely have enough time to check my emails and go through all that lovely junk mail that's cluttering my kitchen island. Do I really want to venture into the jungle? I don't like snakes and creepy crawlies. I see blogging as a jungle right now. It takes a long time to get through the jungle and you can easily get sidetracked and lost. With email, you send a message to those you want to and they can respond back. You go to just your email account. If I enter the land of blogging, then I've got to post blogs, check back to see if friends and family responded and respond back. I also need to check my family and friends blogs. I'm sorry to say that I only do that when someone says, "Have you checked my blog lately?" or if I have some spare time and think of it. I just don't have enough time in the day and I'm a stay-at-home mom. I've got laundry to do and rooms to clean, you know. Plus I like to occasionally do a craft project. To blog or not to blog? I guess I could try it and go from there...

Dorf in Kitchen

So, you all know Tim Conway. He is a favorite comedian of mine! Well, if you haven't seen Dorf on Golf or Dorf Goes Fishing then you should come to our house. Madison who is 7 1/2 has never seen these movies. To my surprise, she comes into the kitchen yesterday "Dorf size" wearing Jack's dress shoes on her knee caps. I start cracking up and call Jack into the kitchen. It was hilarious! Today she had to do it with my tennis shoes. What a crack up!! I think I'll have to have her recreate the moment so I can get a picture to post and have to show her when she's older. You can see a preview of Dorf on Golf here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEig1D4sJdI
